The RAW AGENT™ brand was born in 2015 — the most difficult year of my life, filled with many trials and obstacles. When things were at their toughest, two of my co-workers, Laurelyn Carter and Shelby Stricklin, jumped into action. They courageously stepped up and took over with all of my clients - working tirelessly for them - never giving up, never ceasing, never even slowing down. Their persistence through the tough times is what saved not only our client relationships, it saved me. The fact that I even made it through 2015 alive was due, almost entirely, to their courage and compassion.
So, we decided to start all over. We went back to the drawing board to build a new company from the ground up, but after months of research we realized, the world didn’t need another real estate company! There were already too many companies, and way too many agents. The problem became clear: people shopping for an agent were overwhelmed by all the choices. Originally from Orlando, John has lived in the valley since 2002. Before falling in love with real estate, he was a software developer and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from Auburn University. John has one daughter and one son.
In 2009, John was selected by Realtor Magazine as one of their “30 Under 30”. The National Association of Realtors handpicks 30 agents for this award each year out of the 65,000 Realtors nationwide under the age of 30.

With roots stretching into Mississippi, Laurelyn has spent most of her life here in the valley. Before earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Athens State University, she gained 4 years of experience with marketing in the music industry, and another 4 years acquiring valuable skills in computer technology as a software tester. Laurelyn has one daughter, and her hobbies include playing the guitar and piano.

As a Huntsville native and a daughter of well-known custom homebuilder, Steve Stricklin of Stricklin Custom Homes, Shelby feels she's been in the industry “her entire life”.
She officially began her career in 2005 and spent a few years specializing in on-site sales and commercial real estate. She then joined John’s team in 2013 as a Buyer Specialist and quickly formed a team of top agents to assist her. In the fall of 2015, John asked her to become his Listing Partner and Director of Sales, and she knew she’d really found her niche.

Darin was born and raised in Enterprise, Alabama and earned a BS degree in Accounting. He brings with him over 15 years of sales and management experience, working with home owners and home builders in the HVAC industry. In addition, he has owned and operated Windham Entertainment, Inc for the past 10 years, alongside his wife Marianne, who is a prominent business leader and volunteer in the non-profit and arts communities. You may also recognize Darin from his onstage appearances where he often serves as emcee for several organizations, as well as performing in local musical theatrical productions. Darin enjoys travelling with his wife, playing guitar, sports and spoiling their four-legged furry oversized children Mogli and Paloma.
